Maybe this all explains why Plaid is no longer the party of independence. They have come to recognise that they have created a massive division where it did not exist decades ago. Now you have ordinary patriotic communities on the one hand and pompous, self important careerists and their lackeys on the other. This latter group have no wish to kill off the goose that lays their golden eggs despite the fact that today’s regime and all its predecessors have shat from a great height on Y Werin Bobl. Our only real hope long term is to develop an alternative movement that will endeavour to stay true to its roots and not get seduced by swanky deranged progressive nonsense.

In Rhydcymerau, north Carmarthenshire, where another of Plaid Cymru’s founding fathers was born; mostly lived and died, is to become another betrayed village/community that Plaid have sold out to the far away developers.

Two major wind turbine developments are proposed on upland above the village. One of the developers is that Bute Energy firm. And the other is the Welsh Government’s very own: Ynni Gwyrdd Cymru.

Not a murmur has come from Plaid, because they support these developments, where Wales gets trashed for England’s putative gain.

All four of Plaid’s MPs want a drastic cut in the amount of methane gas – which is predomitable derived from cattle and sheep farming – by supporting the Green Party’s Climate and Nature Bill. The CaNB started life by Caroline Lucas MP; and is a private members bill, which failed to get enough support in UK parliament back in January.

If Plaid and the LibDem’s; and also some nutty Tories and Labour MPs had had their way, then food production in Britain would be decimated.

I understand the greens – who represent loopy urban areas in Westminster – for wanting to do away with cattlle and sheep, because they are vegan and bonkers. But all four of Wales’s Plaid representatives in London have a great deal of country people, which are farmers – or are involved with this industry in their parish.

Maybe the word went out that it was a march about Wales and for Wales. Sod all to do with Palestine, transphobia, Ukraine, Trump, or any other issue that exercises their tiny minds. Though I suspect that display of focus you witnessed was for public consumption only.

That word is getting overworked, and discredited. It is now associated with assorted parties supporting Net Zero, open borders, and women with penises. For 90% of the population those policies do not represent progress.

The march went over almost completely without a hitch; the number of Palestine flags I saw unfurled and ‘counter-demonstrators’ having turned up both equalling one from what I saw, as part of a single incident in fact. Lone loony with a charming chequerboard smile turns up and tries to hoist his UJ/Ddraig Goch hybrid monstrosity and the Israeli national flag.

As you can imagine he went over like a fart in church, but things never got too hairy beyond what can only be described as a flag-off, a bit of flag-snatching from a couple of more rankled YC chaps and some heated words exchanged. He tried to plead victimhood to the attending plod but they basically shooed him off. Surprising really as I’d have expected a bigger contingent than this lone, half-cut drifter sort with his small dog stowed in his backpack.

That kind of bollox spouted in Caerffili is more likely to launch the great unwashed and indifferent off their sofas and down to the polling booths and put their X next to Llyr Powell. In the event of a Reform victory I will see it as a resounding condemnation of the 25 year shitfest tipped over so many of our communities by a succession of Bay regimes of which Plaid has been either a serving partner or happy accomplice.

On the other big issue I’m still waiting for a politician to tell us how it benefits us having anything to do with the assortment of Jews, Zionists, Israelis, Arabs, Palestinians, and sundry Muslim activists that infest our country with their “visions”, “causes”, grievances, and all the other squabble material that keeps them in a permanent state of anger. Better to let them finish each other off so we can enjoy a bit of peace and quiet in the aftermath.

YesCymru and Plaid Cymru are no longer about Wales alone. Certainly not about the Welsh. That would be ‘ethno nationalism’. But if that heinous offence means belonging to an identifiable group of people historically linked to a defined area of land, then I plead guilty. Over and over again.
