On Wednesday I was invited to be on Pawb ai Farn, the Welsh version of Question Time, from the Royal Welsh Show.

Plaid’s Rural Resiliense and Sustainability( what’s wrong with farming or agriculture, I do not know!)minister was there to soothe all us pesky farmers.

After Llyr gave a Billy Grahamesque iteration about how Plaid will back farming by ‘investing’ with resiliance, in a sustainable way, I could not resist throwing some cold water over his platitudes.

I asked, with Plaid pledging to be net zero by 2040 – a full ten years before the UK (that I do not understand!), and saying that farming is to flourish under their governance, even though the Climate Change Committee stipulate by 2050, meat eating will need to be 40% less than that of 2023 level, then how can you say that farming will flourish?

His answer was a mish mash of ‘sustainability and resilience’, with ‘investment’ and ‘localism’ thrown into the pot!

Plaid seem to be ill prepared for power, by making sweeping statements and promises up as they limp along, Jac.

Where will this delusion end, I do not know!

The Well-being of Future Generations (Wales) Act 2015 was presented as a landmark law: a promise that Welsh public bodies would stop making short-term decisions and instead protect the long-term social, economic, environmental and cultural well-being of the nation. In principle, it was hijacked and used in order to follow the principles (sic) of organisations Like Stonewall, Net Zero, DEI and it allowed Envirogrifters and anyone without good intentions to rock up in Wales and receive millions from a Labour Government supported by Plaid Cymru for projects of no value to the Welsh people. What it did do was to back up Labours adherence to a ‘tick box’ method of governance rather than a process of careful thought on how money was spent and wasted!!!
If the Act were working as promised, people in poorer communities would be seeing clearer improvements in life chances, health, housing, transport and access to services. Instead, many communities continue to face deep inequalities. Child poverty, poor health outcomes, insecure work, inadequate public transport and limited access to affordable housing remain everyday realities. The Act has encouraged better language around well-being, but for many people it has not produced enough visible change in their lives.

In reply to Ioan Richard. Her highest earned academic qualification is a second class degree in English/History from Birmingham University after educated privately at Malvern College. She was awarded a 'honourary doctorate' from shortly after 'fixing' a merger with UniGlam to form USW. She has used the title of "Dr" under false pretences in publications in the Guardian and faking some scientific expertise at events like Hay Festival, while flogging her book. She has never earned a PhD.

In reply to FDix. Yes, you make a good point about women. It's the same in the USA. I can understand women being more caring, that's natural and understandable, but unfortunately it too often slips into what is termed 'suicidal empathy'.

I too saw some of the social media reports regarding the South Wales Fire Service, one of the examples I read was that ‘married women with children may not be able to take part in a charity bike ride’. I thought this must be click bait and like you I found and read the report. I was stunned. One hundred and eighty seven pages of drivel which included 9 pages of recommendations.
What saddens me with this report and your other items today is the deep involvement of women. And, while you write understandably about Wales, it’s not just Wales it’s across the UK.
