I made no derogatory reference to race or religion, you know that, and I know that. Hell I'll say it now, to do so is not the cardinal sin it's made out to be these days. But the screeching wokeists and Starmer Stasi operate in Bizarro Land.

If on foot there's not much choice ! I suppose I could pinch a boat on South Wales coast and paddle across to Somerset or North Devon but the natives over there have as big a problem as ours with the influx of big city types and others to bugger up the housing market and cause over reliance on seasonal low wage jobs.

If they unified, they'd be by far the largest country in the world, and with a continuity federal system, it just could work... the United States of North America, with Canadian or American as colloquial enthnonyms much like our own English, Welsh, etc. At least an interesting thought experiment. If nothing else it'd give Canadians the opportunity to finally bin Spam Face and his wizened consort as figureheads.

I was banned from the erstwhile-named Twitter for calling someone a cunt, or rather, I suggested some action be avoided lest subject manifest themselves as said. So what's the missing goods, eh?

In other news, I passed through Derby earlier in Deepest Darkest In-Gur-Lund, and noticed the two closest large hotels in the vicinity of the station were all but closed down, 'no entry' signs in place, but still with lights on and activity within. It dawned on me what was afoot quickly.

I'd like to think the guests of these places are making themselves busy to the benefit of the good folk of Derby. I would love to hear stories of these chaps that occupy these places going around picking up litter, getting to grips with their English and making attempts to knock doors and offer their services in regard to odd jobs, or whatever other public spiritedness that might be thought of. Because after all, if I'd escaped from some war-torn hellhole by the grace of God to a 50 quid a night plus meal allowance sanctuary funded by the taxes levied on my new hosts, I sure as shit would be doing as much.

Wow! What a rant. Yes, I'll concede that I'd overlooked the war with Finland. But that was Soviet Russia, and Finland had been part of the tsarist empire. So it's complicated. Maybe I should have said Western Europe.

As for the Ukrainian biolabs, let's wait and see. (By the way, I don't watch <em>Russia Today</em>.)

The Monroe Doctrine is about to be revived.

You were making interesting - if inaccurate - points up until your final paragraph: "<em>With the changing world order I just hope Trump and his team can recognise the importance of peace and stability in a complex global environment. Given his team and track record I have little faith</em>."

Did you read what I wrote? Trump wants to deal with the deep state aka the Permanent War Party. No one questions his sincerity in wanting to avoid war and conflict. He wants peace and stability, internally and externally. That's one of the reasons he'll soon be meeting Putin and Xi. If you think I'm wrong, then name those in his team you think want war.

I wish you would stick to Welsh issues as your article was full of inaccuracies. Even your links contained editorial notes saying that it contained partial information only and that Q-Anon and other right wing organisations have repeated the Russian accusations etc. The links also claimed that there is no confirmed evidence of chemical or biological weapons research being conducted at the labs in question. Perhaps you should consider tuning in to different media channels than Russia Today or Fox News!
You are also incorrect when you mentioned Russia has never fought against or invaded a Western country as you forget about the Winter War with Finland where there are many similarities with the current situation. The USSR claimed it was not at war and Finland (similar population to Wales) was full of Fascists and consequently attacked out of the Blue.
The Soviet Union lost 300,000 in the conflict but annexed Karelia resulting in the Finns losing a 20% of their territory. The Finns sued for peace and over the next 80 years tried to build good and mutually beneficial relations with Russia hoping that Russia would never be a threat again. The Russian invasion of Ukraine changed that perception and they applied to join NATO as it saw Russia going back to the Stalin era.
The Monroe Doctrine has been dead for years and was originally intended to stop European powers from interfering in Latin America which the US considered its colonial backyard. It was last invoked in 1962 to stop the Soviet Union ( which had infiltrated many left wing groups in Latin America) from setting up a missile base in Cuba. With its focus on Europe, the Monroe Doctrine completely overlooked the rise and importance of China in the US backyard as many countries may need to depend less on Washington in a multipolar world. China has just completed a US$ 3.5 billion mega port in Peru which clearly highlights that.
Following Trump’s inauguration China announced it was ready to work with Russia in an uncertain world. Xi and Putin highlighted the stability and resilience of China -Russia ties and have pledged to elevate the relationship to new heights. They are already in the process of expanding BRICS by including 10 other key developing economies spanning Europe, Latin America,Africa and Asia.
