And far fewer moved to Wales at the height of the MG campaign. But let's remember that the problem isn't confined to those who can afford to buy. (As I deal with in my next post.)

In reply to daffy2012.

This is the work of the Family Housing Association (Wales) Ltd http://www.fha-wales.com/ Which is based in Swansea and, according to its website, doesn't even operate in Ceredigion. Though it may not know where Ceredigion is, because on the link you provided Crymych is in 'Dyfed', which went out ot existence in 1996. Looks like another 'not-for-profit' organisation raking in the money by bringing England's problems into Wales. But of course, it has a Welsh language scheme http://www.fha-wales.com/documents/WelshLanguageScheme.pdf, almost certainly as worthless as all the rest.

We need to get a grip on these social housing providers, and quick. Because they are social housing housing providers, and because Wales - especially PLaid Cymru - is full of gullible, touchy-feely socialists, housing associations and similar outfits will often be supported whereas someone wanting to build private housing would not. It shouldn't matter what type of accommodation is being discussed, if it's surplus to indigenous demand then it should not be built.

You will remember a couple of weeks ago the Crymych Cricket team walking off the pitch for being insulted for speaking in Welsh? Crymych is one of those rare things these days ie a Welsh village in west Wales which is actually still predominantly Welsh. But moves are afoot to rectify this. Tai Cantref are about to build a few houses there and then there's the building of a multi-million pound sheltered accommodation complex 'for local people' which is apparently cost wise beyond their means. This is what I've heard this last week. http://www.housingcare.org/housing-care/facility-info-159628-crymych-extra-care-housing-crymych-wales.aspx

One would have thought that in Crymych of all places the web site would be bilingual.

So, moves are afoot to ensure we don't have in years to come instances like what happened on the cricket pitch in Lamphey earlier this month.

This is depressing and worrying. Indeed, a tragedy unfolding. However, don't give up Royston, comrades. I am from Newport and feel a different attitude amongst our young people than only a few years ago. They are proud to be Welsh and are still in the overwhelming majority. Our day will come.
